Growing up in the culturally diverse and geographically rural environment of New Mexico, I was deeply shaped by the values of equity and community. These values have guided my mission to promote equitable healthcare access and improve community-based health outcomes through proactive outreach and education. My commitment to advocating for stronger support systems and increased access to essential resources is driven by my personal experiences with trauma and addiction.
The transformative power of education has greatly impacted my life and fuels my passion for improving educational opportunities for all. Having experienced the challenges of limited access to quality education, I am driven to create pathways for success. Education is key to personal and community growth. Early in my career, I worked with Early Head Start to support school readiness for children from low-income families. I then joined the Girl Scouts of Sierra Nevada, where I developed a health and wellness curriculum to promote body positivity, confidence, and well-being in young girls. Later, I owned a gym for five years, empowering local women to transform their lives, and also provided consulting in personal development through nutrition and coaching.
My career with High Sierra AHEC began in 2008 as a program coordinator, where I led the development and growth of pathway programs that continue to impact thousands of students across Nevada. I became CEO in 2016 and have since focused on ensuring effective resource allocation, financial sustainability, and mission success. Advocacy is central to my work, as I work to advance policies that support the health and well-being of our community. I prioritize fostering a culture of growth, building valuable partnerships, and creating a supportive work environment that encourages excellence and team well-being.
When I'm not focused on my professional work, you'll find me snowboarding, skiing, soaking up Tahoe beach days, cooking up something new, or getting in a good workout. I love spending time with my family and friends, and together, my husband Anthony, our kids Hudson and Hadley, and I stay connected to the community, embracing life's adventures and all the lessons they bring.
