What are Community Health Workers?

CHWs are frontline public health workers who serve as liaisons between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery. CHWs take on various roles and responsibilities to empower the clients they work with to successfully navigate their health and wellness needs.

BENEFITS OF A COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER CERTIFICATION

A CHW I Certification is a competitive certification recognized by employers statewide. It is a great resource to have on your resume and allows for opportunities of employment in the healthcare field. CHWs can be employed at hospitals, clinics, offices, health and community-based non-profits, and more! High Sierra AHEC is partnered with a variety of community partners and organizations who are interested in providing potential employment opportunities to our program graduates.
