High Sierra AHEC’s pathway programs are designed to inspire young students to pursue careers in healthcare by providing them with an equitable path to success. Upon completing our programs, students emerge as highly trained, skilled, and employable assets to our partners.

HEALTHCARE HEROES

Starting as early as 5th grade, Healthcare Hero Camps immerse students in health and STEM. These camps offer hands-on activities, interactive learning, and skill-building with local professionals.

PROJECT PREVENT AND PROJECT ROARR

Project Prevent and Project ROARR provides underserved and rural students with a comprehensive curriculum that explores healthcare careers, teaches about the healthcare system, and builds research and advocacy skills, empowering students to better understand and advocate for their community's health.

YOUTH CHW CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

At 16, students can join our Community Health Worker (CHW) I  Youth Certification Program. This grant-funded initiative offers a comprehensive curriculum, continuing education, workshops, and mentorship. Open to rural and underserved students, it guides participants toward higher-skilled and specialized healthcare careers.

UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL

The Student Ambassador program is designed for undergraduate students who are passionate about healthcare. This award-winning initiative offers networking, community engagement, preparation for graduate school, and skill-building workshops - equipping students for a successful healthcare career.

GRADUATE AND DOCTORAL-LEVEL

The Nevada AHEC Scholars program is a nationally funded program by HRSA, for graduate-level students. The Scholars program strengthens the healthcare workforce, preparing students as leaders in healthcare and equipping them with practical skills for underserved and rural settings. Scholars gain recognition, IPE credit, hands-on experience, and more.

CSI CAMP

Starting as early as 5th grade, Crime Scene Investigation immerse students in health and STEM. These camps offer hands-on activities, interactive learning, and skill-building with local professionals.
