Scholars Commitment

  • Application process student can commit to a 2-year commitment

  • Practice Inter-professional collaboration in rural and/or urban underserved settings in both Clinical and Didactic settings

  • Priority given to Nevada residents enrolled in minimum 2-year programs (Degree or Certificate Programs)

  • Open to all health students enrolled in clinical and non-clinical programs

SCHOLARS RESPONSIBILITIES

As an AHEC Scholar, you’ll be actively involved in both hands-on clinical and educational experiences aimed at enhancing your skills and knowledge in healthcare. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Complete 80 hours per year:
    40 hours of Clinical Experience
    ​40 hours of Didactic (Educational) Experience

  • Log your hours and report them to the program coordinator.

  • Participate in both online and in-person training opportunities while proudly representing High Sierra AHEC.

  • Communicate effectively with the program coordinator and AHEC staff, ensuring a smooth experience throughout the program.

  • Most importantly, bring your passion for serving the Nevada community through healthcare, as your dedication will make a meaningful impact. Being a scholar means actively participating in advocacy for all communities, supporting patient care, and expanding compassion and commitment to Nevada healthcare
