Building a Brighter Future: The Formation of Our Donor Acquisition Committee

At High Sierra, we are committed to strengthening our mission and expanding our reach in the community. One of the exciting steps we've taken toward this goal is the formation of our Donor Acquisition Committee. This initiative is pivotal in ensuring the sustainability of our programs and enhancing our ability to serve those in need.

For over 40 years, the Nevada AHEC Program has been a lifeline for rural and underserved communities by recruiting, training, and placing healthcare professionals dedicated to essential care. We build a diverse and skilled workforce, address Nevada’s provider-to-patient ratio disparities, and ensure that even the most vulnerable populations receive the care they deserve. Together, we drive lasting change and advance health equity across Nevada.

The Need for a Donor Acquisition Committee

The formation of this committee arose in response to the funding cliff that followed the conclusion of COVID-19 relief funding. As the financial landscape shifted, the AHEC team and Board of Directors recognized the urgent need to diversify our funding streams. To address this challenge, CEO Andrea Gregg and Operations Manager Tave Kuckhoff devised a strategic plan to establish this internal committee focused on securing sustainable funding for our ongoing initiatives.

Committee Focus and Goals

The Donor Acquisition Committee is composed of dedicated board members, staff, and community volunteers who share a passion for our mission. Together, we will concentrate on several key objectives:

  • Foundational Grant Writing: Developing strong grant proposals to secure funding from various sources, ensuring we can continue to provide essential services sustainably.

  • Fundraising Events: Planning and executing engaging fundraising events that not only generate vital support but also foster community involvement and long-term relationships.

  • Networking and Partnering: Building relationships with potential donors and community partners that align with our values and mission, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.

  • Identifying Potential Donors: Conducting research and outreach to connect with individuals, businesses, and foundations that can support our work.

  • Building Lasting Relationships: Fostering genuine connections with donors to ensure they feel valued and informed about our organization's impact.

  • Setting Fundraising Targets: Establishing realistic yet ambitious goals to guide our efforts and measure our success over time.

Our Commitment to Transparency and Impact

As we embark on this journey, we recognize the importance of transparency and communication with our donors. We are committed to providing regular updates on how their contributions are making a difference in the community. By sharing success stories and highlighting the impact of their generosity, we hope to inspire continued support and engagement.

Get Involved!

We believe that everyone has a role to play in supporting our mission. If you’re passionate about helping us expand our donor base or have ideas for potential partnerships, we invite you to get involved! Whether you’re a current supporter or new to our organization, your insights and connections can make a meaningful difference.

Together, we can create a sustainable future for High Sierra AHEC and continue to provide essential services to those in need. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and how you can support our efforts!
